Writing On Your Palm

eBook Readme and Instructions

Thanks for downloading an eBook from Writing On Your Palm! In order to provide the maximum in selection with the maximum in compatibility, all eBooks are provided in Open eBook format. For those not in the know, OEB is based on XML and XHTML. While eventually all eBook readers will be able to read this format directly, it's also easily converted to most of the PalmOS reader formats. Here's how.

  2. Run iSiloWeb and create a new ICL file.
  3. Press your Insert key to add a new channel.
  4. Browse to the HTM file of your new eBook.
  5. Click the Convert All button on the toolbar.
  6. Hotsync and you're done!

  4. Doubleclick the .pdb file to install it on the Palm.

RichReader

  1. If you don't already have it, download RichReader, which includes all the free conversion utilities.
  2. Open a command line window and run HTML2Doc. Quoted from the RichReader Docs page:

The console program HTML2Doc.exe is very similar to RTF2Doc.exe. You specify the input HTML file, a title, and optionally the “-i” flag for automatic installation of the output file for HotSync:

    C:\>HTML2Doc -i MyDoc.html “MyDoc”
Input HTML file: MyDoc.html: 30.5 kb
Temporary TXT file: MyDoc.txt: 21.5 kb
Output PDB file: C:\pilot\ArenaM\Install\MyDoc.pdb: 11.4 kb
Installing file for HotSync user: Michael Arena

  3. Hotsync and you're done!

  1. If you don't already have it, download RocketLibrarian and install it. It's free.
  2. Run RocketLibrarian.
  3. Browse to the HTML file of your new eBook.
  4. Click the Convert button.
  5. Hotsync and you're done!

Note to Macintosh/Amiga/AtariST Users

Sorry, but I neither use nor have access to your kind of machine. The OEB format is mostly backwards compatible with HTML, so use whatever tool you would normally use for transferring HTML documents to your device.
